100th Day of School!

photo 1(1)photo 1photo 3(1)The 100th Day of School is finally here! We had so much fun experimenting with the number 100. Here is a collection of the activities we did today!

1.  100 Animals Shared Reading:

We read the poem 100 Animals and created actions for our poem. Check it out!

2.  If I Had 100 . . .

We did a writing activity all about 100. If you want to read our writing about 100 you need to visit our student blogs!

3.  How Many Licks?

Today Mrs. Cassell gave us jumbo freezies. Yum! We had to estimate how many licks it would take to finish our freezies. After we estimated we started licking our freezies. We kept a tally of all of our licks. It was awesome!!!

When we finished licking our freezies we counted all of our tallies. There were so many! It took some of us over 600 licks to eat our freezies! We made groups of 100 to help us count. To see all of our results please visit our individual class blogs.

4.  Patterns on a Hundreds Chart

Mrs. Cassell gave us stickers and a blank hundred’s chart. We used the stickers to make a different pattern on each row of the hundred’s chart. We made 10 different patterns and used 100 stickers. Some examples of the patterns we made are:

1. ABAB

2. AABB

3. AABBCC

4. ABCABC

  1. Hi, my name is Miss Versteeg and I teach Grade 2 at Eastdale in Listowel. I just read about what you did on hundred’s day. I think your freezie idea was awesome. Isn’t it cold for freezies though? We did hundreds day yesterday too. We made movie trailers about our day using iMovie. We ate a special snack, did special Smartboard activities and we wrote about 100 just like you. You will have to read some of our writing on our student blogs.
Today our class will spend some time reading about all those things your post says are going to be on student blogs. And guess what else we are doing today? We are going SNOW SHOEING! Have you ever been snow shoeing? We will let you know how it goes.
We are doing something special tomorrow too. Can you guess what it is?

    1. Dear Miss Versteeg and the Team 2 Eagles,
Today we visited your blog because we wanted to see what you are doing. We looked at your post about the 100th Day of School. We really wanted to know what you ate? We hope you didn’t eat 100 candies, cats, toys, rats, or Chevy trucks haha. We also looked at a few of your other posts. We saw a thermometer and we just finished learning about temperature too.
Snow shoeing sounds super fun. We want to do that too! But Quentin says it’s painful. Is it hard work?
Here are our guesses about what you are doing tomorrow:
      1. Are you having a party for Valentine’s Day? We are!
      2. Do you have a Valentine’s dance? We do!
      3. Are you eating chocolate and skittles or candies?

Thank you for writing to us! Please write back soon.
