Saying Goodbye to our Friends in Colombia

Today we met with our friends in Colombia for the last time. They are finished school on June 17th. We aren’t finished until June 25th. However, they have to go back to school in August and we don’t go back until September.
During our video conference today, we showed our friends our dances that we have been working on in gym, and then 2 of our friends in Colombia sang us a song they are going to sing in their music show later this week.
We also compared our Father’s Day traditions and celebrations and we found out that we do the same kinds of things for our Dads:

1. We make our Dad’s cards.
2. We make our Dads breakfast in bed.
3. We give our Dads presents like useful things: ties, hammers, tools, toys, movies, and plants.
4. We take our Dads our for supper.
5. We spend the day with our Dads because we love them.

We will miss our friends in Colombia. Hopefully we will see them again next year!

Welcoming a New Flat Friend

A Flat Stanley arrived at our school today to visit with our grade 1/2’s! He is a very handsome Flat Stanley! A girl named Madeline sent him to us all the way from Blossvale, New York in the USA. We have shared our Flat Stanley letter from Madeline and written her a letter!

Dear Madeline,
We are a Grade 1/2 class at Stephen Central PS in Crediton Ontario Canada. We learn all sorts of things like math, reading, writing, media, music, sports, art, science, social studies, drama and dance. Our favourite subjects are media literacy, math, science, and social studies. We have iPads in our classroom that we use for learning every day and we have video conferences with kids and experts around the world who help us learn. Do you use iPads or computers at your school? If you would like to write back to us on our blog we will write back to you!

Where has your Flat Stanley traveled to this year?

If you could send Flat Stanley anywhere in the world, where would you send him? Why?

We will either send him to our friends in Iceland or our friends in Colombia.

Visiting with our Friends in Alberta Again!

On Monday we had our second video conference with our friends in Alberta and 5 girls performed a dance for us – the same dance they performed in their dance competition. The next time we video conference we are going to show them some of the dances that we are learning in gym.
We also talked about our favourite video games. In Alberta they love to play Five Nights at Freddy’s, BlackOps, Minecraft, and Movie Star Planet. Our favourite video games are Five Night’s at Freddy’s, Minecraft, GTA5, and Movie Star Planet. We learned that we like to play the same games.
Our friends in Alberta wanted to know what sports we play and our favourites were hockey, soccer, baseball, swimming. In Alberta they love to go horseback riding. We met a girl who races horses and wins money. They also like to play soccer, ministicks, hockey, swimming and lacrosse. We hadn’t heard of lacrosse so one of the boys explained how to play and they are going to show us their lacrosse sticks next time we meet. It was interesting to learn that we like most of the same games too.
