Today, we had some fun on a rainy Friday with choosing our own activities in the gym that interest us to build some skills. Here’s what we got up to and lots of discussion about safety before Ms. King let us loose:

Track & Field Preparation
Today in gym class, we were learning how to do some Track & Field activities to prepare for next week’s event. We were practicing how to run far distances without stopping. We ran to the trees and back to our door. We also ran around the pavilion, the swings, the equipment and back to the doors. We had to take some deep breathes to help our muscles get oxygen. We were learning how to throw a ball far and properly. We tried very hard to stay away from windows.
Who Let The Dogs Out
Today in gym, we were learning a new dance called ‘Who Let The Dogs Out’. We learned how to dance to the beat. We actually learned three ways to dance to the song. There are two different ways on Just Dance for the same song and Ms. King choreographed a dance to the music as well. We videoed two of the dances and we practiced one because Ms. King couldn’t video because she was dancing too to show us how it was done.
This dance was the Just Dance Kids version:

We liked about this one:
– it was fun to do
– it was easy to do
– we like the song
We didn’t like this one because:
– it may be for younger children than us
– we didn’t like some of the moves
– it was cartoony
– it looks kind of babyish
This dance was the Just Dance for older people:

We liked about this dance:
– it was easy for some and challenging for others
– it wasn’t for babies (although we know that babies can’t actually dance)
– it was harder than the kids version
We didn’t like this one because:
– it was more challenging
– it was fast so it was hard to keep up
We didn’t video the last one, but what we liked about it:
– that it was easy
– that Ms. King made it
– it was easy to learn
– the moves were funny
– it had the grapevine
We didn’t like this one because:
– it was slow
– it wasn’t as challenging
– that we didn’t get to help make it
Sooooooo…. let’s make our own!!!!! Ms. King is going to challenge us to make our own choreography (create different dance moves) to a song. Stay tuned to see our videos.
