Today, we started our thinking on how liquids are absorbed by solids. We have formulated lots of questions and made lots of predictions. We poured four different kinds of liquids on four different kinds of solids to see if they would be absorbed. We poured ketchup, molasses, water and oil. The solids we used were two kinds of paper towel, wax paper, the desktop and newspaper. We found out that spathe white paper towel absorbs the liquids the best. The second best absorber was the brown paper towel. The newspaper absorbed two but only part of the liquid because some liquid sat on top. The desktop and the wax paper did not absorb any. They are not very good at cleaning up spills.
