This week my students searched through their blog categories (Reading, Writing, Art, Science, Math, …) and they chose 1 or 2 posts in each subject category to create their year end Digital Portfolio. After choosing a post, which could be a favourite, their best work, a challenge, a success, etc., they copied the post, created a page for each subject, pasted the post onto the new page, and then wrote a reflection. We then took these pages and created a menu titled, Grade 2 Portfolio. Each page in our Grade 2 Portfolio appears as a sub-menu item under the title.
Next year my goal is to have the students begin their Digital Portfolio pages after Progress Reports go home. The kids would then continue to add 1 or 2 artefacts to their portfolio pages after Term 1 and Term 2.
My long term vision is to have each student create a grade specific Digital Portfolio every year they are in school. I guess we’ll see what happens next year!

I love this idea! I would love this as a parent as well. My kids have just come home with stacks of books and paper that I need to find a home for (or not.)
